The Entrepreneurial Mind

What makes entrepreneurs reject the comfort and security of a traditional job and open their own businesses? There are lots of talks and seminars on YouTube from entrepreneurs, explaining their motivations. Stanford and MIT have lots of good videos. Berkeley too. Many of the speakers went to elite colleges and business schools, so they're no dummies. And after college or business school, they went to work for big banks, tech companies, etc. A number of them said they left their jobs because they got tired of the corporate culture. They would leave meetings, wondering what the hell just happened, how could their bosses agree on such a stupid idea. Or they got tired of office politics. Or their work wouldn't be appreciated, but the idiot down the hall got promoted. I get it. I've worked for both good people and dumb people. I was a top student in college, went to a top 10 law school, have always done high-level work. But when you work for idiots, your work product isn...

Focusing on Small Business Litigation

With the new year come new changes, including for this office. I have successfully represented clients in many areas of litigation and the law, but I believe I can best serve my clients by focusing on litigation for the Long Island small business owner--as plaintiff or defendant. I have been thinking about this shift in focus, this concentration, for a while. And business litigation (some people call it "commercial litigation") is really what most of my practice has been since opening this office in 2008. I am excited for the new direction of the office and in being able to help out small business owners (like me) face the legal challenges that do arise on occasion, as they grow their businesses.
